It is a strange feeling for me to write some introductory remarks for the 2009-2010 brochure of the Holland Scholarship program. It is the fi rst time this name is used for what everybody knows under the name of Y.C.Lo.
For many years Mr. Y.C.Lo was the driving force of this successful program for which he took the initiative many years ago. Mr. Y.C.Lo was then CEO of Philips Taiwan. The program started with 1.5 million NT$ but expanded over the years till the 12 million NT$ it can offer Taiwanese students now.
After so many years Mr. Lo wished ending his involvement, and giving the lead to a younger person. I really want to thank him for all the work he did for the program, for always advising young Taiwanese students and for his great contributions to the related seminars, briefings and press conferences. Without Y.C.Lo it is no longer the same, for sure.
But, the program goes on, be it under a different name. Next academic year, NESO Taipei will manage the scholarships as always and I think we have a lot to offer, as you can see in this brochure. I personally met numerous students before they left for study in The Netherlands and later when they came back. I dare to say that 99% of them is extremely happy with their choice and that is probably why we have such a fl ourishing Alumni society. May this be an encouragement for applying for one of the 2009-2010 Holland scholarships. I look forward congratulating the winners at the award ceremony and later meeting them at our pre-departure briefings.
